Advanced Header Featured

Advanced Header Featured

A data-carrier block inside the Advanced Header. It links a group of inner blocks to a specific WordPress navigation menu item so that content appears in the matching mega-menu dropdown’s featured column.

How It Works

The block acts as a bridge between your editor content and the front-end mega-menu. Here is the three-step flow:

1

Block links to a menu item

The menuItemId attribute stores the ID of a WordPress nav menu item. menuItemTitle stores the display title so editors can see which menu item this content belongs to.

2

Parent render.php finds the match

When the Advanced Header renders on the front end, its render.php iterates over all Featured children and matches each one to its corresponding menu item by ID.

3

Inner blocks are injected into the dropdown

The saved HTML wrapper <div> of this block is discarded. Only the rendered output of its inner blocks is injected into that dropdown’s featured column.

What Goes Inside

This block accepts any child blocks. A typical featured column includes:

No standalone use

This block cannot be inserted from the block inserter (supports.inserter: false). It only exists as a child of the Advanced Header Block, which creates Featured instances automatically when you assign content to menu items.
